In past twenty years, Ansgar and Benedikt Schulz have created a wide range of buildings and designs, including public buildings, a large skyscraper in Berlin and the first Catholic church constructed in eastern Germany after the fall of the Berlin Wall. In three times three thematic chapters, the author Annette Menting presents selected projects in context. Under the headings of “Transformations”, “Systems” and “Motives”, building in existing structures, concepts from systems and elements, as well as the relationship between architecture and atmosphere are dealt with. In addition to an annotated register of buildings and designs, an introductory essay provides insight into working methods and the path to architecture that reflects the “salience of the self-evident”.
