A study on the establishing a field of studies in integrated building services was undertaken as part of the master programme in the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering at TU Dortmund. The study was based on the thesis that the cooperation of participants in the planning and building process can be improved by modifications to the training of architects, civil engineers and building services engineers. Based on the success of joint training for architects and civil engineers in the “Dortmund Construction Sector Model”, which has been carried out since 1974, the study of Ansgar und Benedikt Schulz examines the extent to which the training of building services engineers can be integrated meaningfully into this model.
